The Peacocks secured their spot in the NSIC / U.S. Bank Women's Soccer Tournament with a 2-1 overtime win at home on Senior Day in Fayette.

Upper Iowa will head into the tournament as the #8 seed although they tied for sixth place in the NSIC standings. The three way tie for sixth was broken and the Peacocks fell to the eighth spot which means a date with the #1 seeded and NSIC Champion Warriors of Winona State at 5 p.m. in Winona, Minn. this coming Wednesday.
Upper Iowa got on the scoreboard first today when
Kali Loescher scored from the right side thanks to an assist by
Valeria Ptasinski in the 26th minute.
The lead held up until the 54th minute when the Golden Eagles tied the match after a foul gave them a free kick. Megan Flynn found Rachel Halligan in front of the net for the goal.
As the game moved into the first overtime period, senior
Leslie Willson ended the match in the 96th minute as she put home a rebound on a Loescher shot that the UMC keeper couldn't gather in.
The win pushed UIU's record to 8-7-3 overall and 6-4-3 in the NSIC and gives them 22 points in the standings.
The tie breakers with Augustana and Bemidji State that sent UIU to the #8 seed are as follows:
1. Augustana won the three-way tie due to goal differential.
2. Bemidji State won the tie with UIU because they won the head-to-head match up.
