Upper Iowa only hit .115 tonight in Crookston, Minnesota against the Golden Eagles in a Northern Sun Conference road match. The poor hitting performance led to a five-set loss that dropped the Peacocks' record to 13-12 overall and 6-9 in the NSIC. The loss marked the third straight for UIU.
After posting a 25-22 win in the first set, Upper Iowa lost the second and third sets by 25-20 and 25-23 counts. UMC closed out the second set by scoring 8 of the final 9 points, while in the third set the Golden Eagles scored 5 of the final 7 points.
Upper Iowa reversed the trend in the fourth set taking five of the final six points to claim a 25-20. The Peacocks jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the final set, but the home team quickly responded to dominate the remainder of the set to win 15-9.
Sara Vance picked up 19 kills to lead UIU's offense, but she was the only player in double figure kills for the visitors.
Skylar Lesan dished out 39 assists, while
Danielle Gernes dug out 25 balls on the back line. Vance assisted on 8 blocks, while
Maryn Fulton and
Kayla Wagner each totaled 7 blocks.
Upper Iowa will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Moorhead, Minnesota to face the Dragons of MSU Moorhead in another NSIC match at 4 p.m.
