Upper Iowa fought for 110 minutes and came away from their road match with the #5 Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato with another point in the NSIC standings.  The Peacocks and Mavericks played to a 0-0 tie which pushed UIU's record to 6-7-3 overall and 4-4-3 in the NSIC, while MSU moved to 13-1-2 overall and 10-0-1 in the conference.
The tie gives Upper Iowa 15 points in the standings and eighth place in the standings with two matches to play. 
The Mavericks outshot the Peacocks by a 29-13 count, but UIU made their attempts count kncoking 8 on frame, but Brianna Hendricks made all 8 saves.  UIU also hit the post on one attempt, but couldn't push one over the goal line.
Amanda Smith and the Peacock defense were even more impressive denying the MSU offense a scored despite facing 15 shots on goal.  Smith made all 15 saves for the Peacocks. 
Kelsey Taldone put four shots on goal for the Peacocks to lead the attack, while Brianne West took 6 shots to lead the Maverick attack.
Upper Iowa will host the final two games of the regular season this coming Saturday and Sunday at Pattison Field in Fayette.  The Peacocks will face the Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead and the Golden Eagles of the University of Minnesota, Crookston.  Both games are slated for 1 p.m. starts.
