Box Score
The Peacock women's soccer team picked up some much needed points in the NSIC standings with a come-from-behind win at Northern State this afternoon.
The home team took a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute on a goal by Rachel Goslinga and an assist from Hilary Peterson.
The single goal stood up as the game's only mark on the scoreboard until the 65th minute when
Kali Loescher picked off a defensive clear and then turned it around and shot it past the Wolves' keeper to tie the match. Six minutes later,
Alyssa Petersburg collected a rebound and knocked it into the back of the net. The rebound came on a
Valeria Ptasinski shot that nailed the crossbar before finding Petersburg's feet.
Upper Iowa outshot their hosts by a 25-3 count including a 9-1 advantage in shot on goal.
The Peacocks (5-6-2, 3-4-2 NSIC) will host the Clarke Crusaders on Thursday this week before returning to the NSIC road map next weekend with matches at Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota State on Saturday and Sunday. UIU has four NSIC matches left and trail the final spot for the NSIC Tournament by one point in the standings.
