The Peacock women's soccer team dropped their NSIC match against the Marauders of U-Mary in Bismarck, N.D. this afternoon by a 1-0 count.
U-Mary scored a goal in the 9th minute and made it hold up over the next 81+ minutes. Kaitlin Walsh scored the gamewinner from six yards away. Walsh finished off a cross from Kelsey Pacpaco for the goal.
The Peacocks outshot their hosts 8-7 including a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal, but Ashley Akers made all seven saves, including five in the first half, to earn the shutout win in the Marauder net.
Valeria Ptasinski and
Jamie Krusie each had a pair of shots on goal, but neither could sneak it past the keeper.
Amanda Smith made four saves in goal for UIU.
Upper Iowa (4-6-2, 2-4-2 NSIC) will head south to Aberdeen, S.D. for tomorrow's NSIC match with the Wolves of Northern State.
