A Pair of Northern Sun Duals...
Upper Iowa is on the road for two Northern Sun wrestling duals Thursday and Friday, Jan. 27 and 28. The Peacocks will face the #7 Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato on Thursday in Mankato and then wrestle the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University on Friday in Marshall. Both duals are scheduled for 7 p.m. starts.
Great Start to the NSIC Season...
The Peacocks are off to another great start in NSIC competition. The team won their first two conference duals over U-Mary, 34-6, and Northern State, 25-15. Peacocks that claimed two wins included Trevor Franklin, Kyle Pedretti, Winston Robbins, Bryce Lumzy, Wade Gobin, and Carl Broghammer.
Peacocks in the Polls...
Upper Iowa is currently ranked #10 in the latest NWCA Top 20 Poll and five individuals are also ranked in the top 8 in the nation. The ranked Peacocks are Kyle Pedretti (133, #1), Trevor Franklin (125, #3), Mitch Schultz (184, #6), Carl Broghammer (197, #6), and Zach Rosol (285, #5).
Scouting the #7 Mavericks...
The Mavericks finished 7th at this year’s NWCA National Duals with a 3-2 record. MSU has won four straight including wins over #8 San Francisco State, U-Mary, Northern State and #20 MSU Moorhead. The team is led by Andy Forstner (#2, 125), Ben Becker (#8, 174), and Aaron Norgren (#5, 184).
Scouting the Mustangs...
The Mustangs are 4-1-1 on the season and 0-1 in NSIC action. Their only conference dual of the year came in a 32-8 loss to #3 St. Cloud State. CD Johnson (184) and Brian Rodas (285) earned the wins for SMSU.
