After dropping the first set of the match, 25-17, the Peacock volleyball team gave #14 Minnesota State everything they had forcing the match to four sets and nearly five.  Upper Iowa dropped the NSIC match to the Mavericks, but may have found the grit and drive they'll need to finish the season on a high note.

Upper Iowa hit only .051 in the first set with 9 kills to 7 hitting errors, but rebounded very well in the second set to hit .298 including 20 kills.  UIU took the second set 27-25 and nearly took set three falling 26-24.  The fourth set was also tightly contested as the Mavericks wrapped up the 3-1 victory with a 25-21 win.

Maryn Fulton and Skylar Lesan led the way with strong hitting performances.  The pair of sophomore hit .400 and .500 on the night and each tallied 7 kills.  Lesan added 41 assists to her stat line, while Fulton added 4 blocks.  Nicky Brown and Melanie Behnke recorded the most kills on the night with 13 and 12, respectively.  Brown and Danielle Gernes each dug out 13 balls for the defense.

UIU (6-16, 3-10 NSIC)  gets right back onto the court this afternoon against the #6 Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State at 3 p.m.  SMSU took a four-set match in Dorman Gym earlier in the season.
