The Peacocks lined up with the #1 team in the country tonight in the form of the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth. Upper Iowa was unable to stand up to their hosts as UMD won the Northern Sun Conference match in straight sets; 25-15, 25-13, and 25-19. The loss drops UIU’s record to 5-14 overall and 3-8 in the NSIC, while the Bulldogs improved to 18-1 overall and 10-1 in conference action.

 

The Bulldogs hit .327 for the match with 46 kills and only 11 attacking errors. The ladies in blue only managed a .029 percentage with 25 kills and 22 hitting errors. The Peacocks best hitting came in the third set as they posted a .154 percentage with 12 kills. UMD topped out in the first set with a .357 percentage.

 

Kayla Wagner recorded a team-high 7 kills, while Sara Vance added 6. Skylar Lesan assisted on 22 of the 25 Peacock kills. Vance, Nicky Brown and Danielle Gernes tallied 8 digs apiece.

 

Upper Iowa remains on the road tomorrow and will look to snap their current four-game skid in Bemidji, Minn. The Peacocks will take on the Beavers of Bemidji State at 4 p.m.
