Upper Iowa University Athletics

Tucker Wentzien led the Peacocks to a split over the weekend that included a thirteen-point win over Minnesota, Crookston and a near-upset of #16 MSU Moorhead; UIU lost to MSUM by two in overtime.  Wentzien averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds over the weekend while adding a pair of assists and a pair of blocks.  The Peacock post player shot 55.9% (19-34) from the field and 60% (3-5) from beyond the three-point line.  Wentzien made one of his two free throws over the weekend while only committing two fouls in 64 minutes.
 
Upper Iowa defeated Minnesota, Crookston 61-48 a night after a dissapointing two-point, overtime loss at #16 MSU Moorhead.  UIU led the Dragons by 11 points with five mintues to play, but couldn't hold on as the home team made their run.  A pair of Dragon free throws sealed the victory for MSUM.  The Peacocks shot 43.5% over the weekend, but struggled from the three-point line as they hit only 8 trifectas in the two games (27.6%).  Upper Iowa did control the glass though averaging 38 boards a game and claiming a rebounding margin of +12.5 per game.  UIU will return home this Friday and Saturday for a pair of NSIC games against the Vikings of Augustana and the Wildcats of Wayne State.  Tip off is scheduled for approximately 8 p.m. following the women's game each night.
