Upper Iowa University Athletics

The Peacock tennis team will open their 2011 season this Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn.  Upper Iowa will face off against the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth at 3 p.m.

 

Upper Iowa is ranked third in the Central Region by the ITA just behind NSIC-foe, Augustana College, and Metro State.  The Peacocks also boast a pair of individuals in the Central Region Singles Top 10 and a nationally ranked doubles team. Freshman Amanda Nunez is ranked third in the singles poll while sophomore teammate Anastasia Dabiza is ranked ninth.  Both Peacocks are also named in the doubles top ten as Nunez and her teammate, Karli Loewecke, are the top ranked doubles pair in the Central Region and ranked as the 17th in the nation.  Dabiza and her doubles partner, Courtney Romer, are the eighth-ranked team in the Central Region preseason poll.  The Peacocks are ranked as the 50th best team in NCAA Division II.
