Damian Penichet (149, R-So., Miami, Fla., Christopher Columbus HS)

Damian Penichet, who is ranked #11 nationally and #2 regionally with a record of 19-5, went 2-0 with a major decision last week. He defeated Cortez Arredondo of SMSU 9-4 allowing only a pair of reversals while scoring a four-point nearfall to pull away for the win on Thursday. Penichet then earned a 13-3 major decision over Tyler Stenberg (#2 nationally/#1 regionally), the reigning NSIC Wrestler of the Week. Penichet carried a 4-1 lead into the final period thanks to a takedown in each of the first two periods. The Peacock redshirt sophomore put the match out of reach in the third with three takedowns, two nearfall points and a ride time point in the ten-point win.
