Sorensen won both of his matches this week by fall to bring his record up to 21-5 with 13 pins, which leads the varsity competitors for the Peacocks
Defeated Ashton Bartlett of SMSU in 1:03 on Friday before pinning Kobina Henriques (4:43) in the second period after several takedowns
The win pushed Sorensen’s winning streak to six straight since his 7-4 loss to #1 Garrett Lineberger of Notre Dame College
Upper Iowa won 17 of the 20 matches wrestled this week posting a 30-9 win at SMSU and then claiming the 44-6 victory against Minot State at home
The Peacocks got a pair of wins from Matt Paulus (133), Trevor Duke (149), Jordan Rinken (157, #6 NWCA), Dalton Westerlund (174), Sorensen and Ricky Briggs (197), while Chris Paulus (125), Garrett Wangsness (125), Jordan Roths (141), Colbey Vance (165, #8 NWCA) and Logan Hopp (285, #6 NWCA) all posted one win
UIU scored six wins by fall and added a tech fall and three major decision as they posted bonus points in 10 of their 17 wins.
The Peacocks will face the Mavericks of Minnesota State this Thursday night in Mankato, Minn. at 7 p.m.
