Edwin Cooper led the Peacocks on Thursday and Saturday this week with a 4-1 record and runner-up finish in the 149-pound bracket at the Luther Open. The New Lenox, Ill. product scored a 24-second pin in UIU’s dual on Thursday night and picked up a 7-1 decision to reach the quarterfinals and a technical fall (17-2) to earn his spot in the semis of the Luther Open on Saturday. In the semis, Cooper defeated Brody Grothus of Iowa, 7-4, setting up a match against Mike Kelly of Iowa for the title.
