Jay Tiedemann

Jay Tiedemann was named the head coach of Upper Iowa women’s wrestling in June 2025. He previously served for two years as the assistant women’s wrestling coach at Hiram College in Ohio.

During his tenure, he helped guide the program to the 2025 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship, coaching five individual conference champions and one runner-up. Under his leadership, Hiram produced multiple national qualifiers.

"I'm incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of head women's wrestling coach at Upper Iowa University," Tiedemann said. "The administration here is extremely supportive of the women's wrestling program, and I feel UIU is a special place to be. I look forward to upholding the strong standard of athletics here at Upper Iowa."

Before his time at Hiram, Tiedemann spent five years at Firestone High School (Ohio), including four as head coach for both the men's and women's wrestling programs. He led Firestone to five consecutive league championships after a 15-year drought and produced several Ohio girls' state medalists.

Tiedemann also coached at Santa Rosa High School (California) for six years, including three as the head coach of the men's and women's programs.
