Upper Iowa University Athletics

Jason Hoskins returns for his sixth season as head football coach in 2026. He was named the head football coach at Upper Iowa following the 2019 season. Hoskins became the 16^th head football coach in the football program's history after returning to the Peacock coaching staff prior to the 2019 season. During the 2025 season, the Peacocks posted a 9-3 record marking the most wins in a single season in program history. Hoskins also led the team to a victory in the Albanese Candy Bowl, marking the first postseason win in program history. 

Upper Iowa compiled a 7-4 record under Hoskins' leadership in 2024, marking the most since UIU became a Division II program in 2003. The 16 combined wins in 2024-25 were the most over a two-season span in program history. 

Hoskins has coached 10 First Team and 14 Second Team All-Conference selections with UIU in the GLVC and NSIC. This included Upper Iowa's first conference player of the year since 2011 with Nathan Behne being named GLVC Co-Special Teams Player of the Year in 2025. He also coached Harlon Hill nominee in wide receiver Mante Morrow and two All-Americans in Eddie Burgess (AFCA All-American and CSC Academic All-American®) and Connor Andresen (CSC Academic All-American®) in 2025. Erik Hansen in 2021 and Morrow in 2025 were named to the D2Football.com Elite 100 under his leadership as well.

During the 2014-16 seasons, Hoskins served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach while helping to lead the team to 15 wins over that stretch. During the 2019 season, he was the defensive backs and special teams coach. Prior to his time at Upper Iowa, Hoskins spent five years as an assistant coach with fellow NSIC-member Northern State University. The Dubuque, Iowa native coached the secondary and was the recruiting coordinator for the Wolves.

Before his arrival in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Hoskins served as a graduate assistant at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois working with the wide receivers in 2009 and the offensive line in 2008, and also serving as the program's video coordinator.

Hoskins also made coaching stops at the University of Minnesota Duluth (running backs) and Loras College as a student assistant with the running backs in 2005, tight ends in 2004 and wide receivers in 2002. He coached the defensive backs as a student assistant at Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois in 2003

Hoskins earned his bachelor's degree in history and secondary education from Loras in 2005 and his master's degree in education from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2013. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 2001.

He and his wife Kelly are the proud parents of three kids, Ella, Michael and Kate.
