Ethan Horner was added to the Upper Iowa Strength & Conditioning staff as an Assistant Director in the summer of 2026. He came to Upper Iowa from Grand View University in Des Moines where he served as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.
While at Grand View, Horner led and programmed training sessions for women's volleyball, women's wrestling and track and field. He also assisted in the training for every sports team, including helping with gameday warmups for the 2025 NAIA National Championship football team. He also worked individually with the goalie of the NAIA National Championship men's soccer team, Luis Helm, who was also named the Defensive Player of the NAIA Tournament.Â
The sports he worked with individually also had success. Grand View women's volleyball finished with a 28-5 record and a Heart of America Conference regular season championship during his time with the team in 2025. Women's wrestling posted a second place finish with six All-Americans at the 2025 NAIA National Tournament and a third place finish with eight All-Americans at the 2026 NAIA National Tournament. Lastly, women's track and field totaled two All-Americans.
Before his time at Grand View, Horner interned in the strength and conditioning department with the Iowa Hawkeye football team. He also has experience as a Rehabilitation Assistant at Comprehensive Rehabilitation in Clinton.Â
