Yulia Vasilyeva is in her first season at Upper Iowa as the graduate assistant coach for women's cross county and track & field. Vasilyeva comes to UIU after spending a year as the graduate assistant jumps coach at the University of Rio Grande, where she had a high jumper finish tenth at NAIA nationals.
Vasilyeva competed at Robert Morris University for four years (2011-14), and still holds school records at RMU. Vasilyeva holds the high jump and triple jump records, and won the Northeastern Conference championship in the triple jump for three consecutive years (2012-14). She earned most valuable player in the NEC as a senior in 2014, scoring 21 points, and was the RMU track team MVP for three seasons as well.
Vasilyeva earned her bachelor of arts degree in communications at Robert Morris, and earned her masters degree in athletic coaching and leadership at Rio Grande. She is currently working on her masters in business administration at Upper Iowa.
A native of Volgograd, Russia, Vasilyeva finished third on the Russian National Championship team in 2010 in the high jump, with a jump of 5'8".
Yulia currently lives in Fayette, and her focus on the team is with the high, triple, and long jumpers on the track & field team at UIU.
