Laura Johnson enters her first year with the women’s basketball program at Upper Iowa in 2020-21. Johnson comes to the Peacocks from Cedar Falls High School, where she served most recently as an assistant coach with the Tigers. Her main responsibilities were with practice and game preparation, as well as player development. Before her coaching stint in Cedar Falls, Johnson spent three years in Spain playing professionally, as well as the Wisconsin Glo.
The Cedar Falls native is a familiar face to the Northern Sun Conference after competing collegiately at the University of Sioux Falls. Johnson started every game for the Cougars during her last two seasons averaging 13.3 points per game as a junior and 15 points as a senior. She holds the University of Sioux Falls career records in three-point percentage, rebounds per game, blocked shots per game, and minutes per game. She is also a former NSIC All-Conference First Team award member, as well as an NCAA DII Honorable Mention All-American. Johnson graduated from USF with a Bachelor’s degree in biology in 2014.
