Justin Weiland returns for his second season as the assistant women's basketball coach in 2020-21. Prior to coming to Fayette and Upper Iowa, Weiland served as an assistant coach with the women’s basketball staff at Bemidji State University for the 2018-19 season.
Before his time in Bemidji, Weiland spent two years at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Weiland was the women’s basketball assistant coach in his first season with Ellsworth during the 2016-17 season and was promoted to head coach for the 2017-18 season. During Weiland’s time at Ellsworth, he coached four all-region players including two first teamers.
Weiland got his start in coaching with the Milwaukee-based AAU team, WBA Prestige. During his three years with the organization, Weiland was able to recruit 30 top players in the Milwaukee-Waukesha area. His teams won a pair of AAU national tournament championships.
Weiland attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he was a practice player with the women’s basketball team during the 2014-15 season. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in political science in 2015.
