Sean O’Connor was promoted to the position of head strength and conditioning coach in October 2020.
O'Connor enters his third full year with the Upper Iowa strength and conditioning coaching staff in 2021-22; he served as the assistant coach from the spring of 2019 through his promotion in early October 2020.
O’Connor came to Fayette after two years as a graduate assistant on the South Dakota State University strength and conditioning staff. At SDSU, he oversaw the implementation of wrestling, men’s and women’s golf and men’s and women’s cross country training programs and assisted with the Jackrabbit football and baseball teams.
Prior to his time in Brookings, S.D., O’Connor was at Iowa State University during the 2016-17 season, where he worked with the Cyclones football team. He lead walk-ons and junior college transfers through training sessions, teaching foundational movement patterns. O’Connor also worked with injured student-athletes through modified exercises.
O’Connor spent part of 2016 at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, assisting with the football, men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and men’s soccer training programs.
O’Connor interned at Northwest Missouri State University from 2014 to 2015. He worked with the men’s and women’s track and field, football, baseball and women’s basketball teams.
The certified a strength and conditioning specialist by National Strength & Conditioning Association, O’Connor graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 2016 with a corporate wellness degree.
