Biography
2014-15: Redshirted season due to injury.
2013-2014: UIU Athletic Director's Honor Roll ... All-NSIC Second Team ... All NSIC Defensive Team ... played in and started all 27 games ... team MVP ... 11th Peacock to score 1,000 points in a career and only the second to do so in their junior season ... averaged 16.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.8 assists per game ... ranked among the tops in the NSIC in scoring (9th), free throw percentage (13th), steals (5th) and minutes played (23rd) ... scored in double figures in 22 games, including nine 20-plus point games and two 30-plus point games ... set a new career-high for points with 35 against Sioux Falls on Dec. 14.
2012-13: Kieffer started every game this season for the Peacocks marking the second straight year of perfect attendance at the opening jump ball. Kieffer averaged 32.8 minutes per game, the 14th most among NSIC players, and averaged 18.7 points per game in those minutes. The sophomore’s scoring ranked 15th in the nation and 3rd in the NSIC as she racked up 560 points on the year, the second highest total in Peacock history; Christel Brown netted 579 points during the 1985-86 season. For her career, Kieffer has scored 971 points and is just 29 points shy of becoming the 11th women’s basketball player to reach the 1,000 point plateau.
This season, Kieffer scored in double figures in 25 of her 30 games including 14 games that she scored over 20 points. She tied her career-high in points, 31, in the first game of the season against William Jewell College and netted 30 later in the year against the University of Minnesota, Crookston. Kieffer set a new career-high in rebounds this season after snaring 17 at Southwest Minnesota State University in January. She recorded 7 double-doubles this season.
The Scales Mound, Illinois product shot 44.8% from the floor including 33.3% from behind the arc, but saved her best shooting for the charity stripe where she converted 82.7% of her attempts. Kieffer’s free throw percentage ranked 59th in the country and 8th in the conference. In addition to her scoring, it was her rebounding that vaulted Kieffer onto the NSIC’s First Team this season after being appointed to the All-Freshman Team a year ago. The Peacock guard averaged 7.4 rebounds per game which ranked 10th in the NSIC and included the NSIC’s third-best total in offensive boards a contest with 3.3. Kieffer got the nod onto the All-Defensive Team thanks to her rebounding and her hard-nosed, on-the-ball defense which earned her 2.7 steals per game, which ranked 45th in the country and 5th in the NSIC.
2011-12: Whitney Kieffer was named to the NSIC’s All-Freshmen team following her first year with the Peacocks. Kieffer started every game last season for the Peacocks and led the team in 12 categories including scoring average, rebounds, steals, and minutes played. She amassed 411 points for a 15.8 per game average, which ranks 85th nationally, and scored a career-high 31 points at Bemidji State University on Feb. 24. The Peacock guard averaged 6.7 rebounds per game pulling down 174 on the season. Her career high in rebounds (11) came at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. Kieffer added 56 steals, 41 assists, and 8 blocks over the course of the 26-game season.
The Scales Mound, Ill. native topped the 20-point mark 8 times and reached double figures in all but five games. In NSIC games, Kieffer averaged 16.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.14 steals in 32.5 minutes per game. She ranks fourth in scoring average, tenth in rebounds, third in steals and seventh in minutes played among NSIC individuals. Kieffer recorded two double-doubles; she scored fifteen points and grabbed 10 rebounds at The University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Nov. 27 and netted 10 points and collected 11 rebounds at Minnesota, Crookston.
