FAYETTE, Iowa - The Upper Iowa University women's basketball program is excited to welcome back alumna Lexie Lodermeier as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2025–26 season. A four-year letterwinner and former team leader, Lodermeier returns under head coach
Justin Maass, who she played for during his first season at the helm of the Peacocks.
Lodermeier competed for Upper Iowa from 2019-23, making 99 career appearances and 92 starts. Known for her reliability, defensive presence and high basketball IQ, she served as a steady force in the post throughout her time in a Peacock uniform.
In her senior season (2022–23)—which was also Coach Maass's first year leading the program—Lodermeier played in all 28 games, starting 27. She averaged 4.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, ranking third on the team in boards and leading the squad with 17 blocked shots. She added 20 assists, shot nearly 40 percent from the field, and was dependable at the line (20-26 FT). She tallied a career-high 15 points vs. Bemidji State and recorded a season-best 10 rebounds at Wayne State.
Across her four-year career, Lodermeier totaled 406 points, 420 rebounds, 100 assists and 41 blocks, averaging nearly 21 minutes per contest. She brought a calm, consistent presence to the floor and was widely respected for her team-first approach.
Academically, Lodermeier was just as impressive. She was a three-time NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence honoree and received the prestigious Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award, which is given to senior student-athletes with a GPA of 3.75 or higher.
Before her time at Upper Iowa, Lodermeier had an accomplished high school career at Goodhue High School in Minnesota, where she was a Class A All-State selection, Minnesota All-Star (2019), and a member of multiple Class A State Tournament teams, including the 2016 and 2017 state championship squads.
She earned her degree in Exercise Science from UIU and now returns to the program ready to make an impact from the sidelines as the Peacocks continue to compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
Quote from Head Coach Justin Maass
"I am extremely excited to bring back Lexie and add her to our staff. It is always special to have a player that you coached be on your coaching staff. Lexie will be able to add a unique perspective while coaching our student athletes since she was once in their jersey. Lexie is a great person, comes from a amazing family, and I can't wait to watch her develop as a young coach."
