AROUND THE GLVC… The Peacocks have posted a 9-10 record on the year, with a 6-7 conference record. They currently sit at 9th in the GLVC standings, while ranking 7th overall in the GLVC Point Rating System which determines the top eight teams that reach the conference tournament. The Peacocks were able to move up the ranks of the point rating system with wins over Quincy and Missouri-St. Louis at home, while also picking up a big-time victory over Truman State on the road. NEARING 1,000… Kayla Bohr is 34-points away from scoring 1,000 points over her collegiate career. Bohr spent her first three seasons with Wisconsin-Parkside where she recorded 498 points. In her two years with Upper Iowa, Bohr has scored 468 points and is averaging 12.6 points per game on the year. She is coming off a 21-point game against Southwest Baptist where she shot 8-15 from the floor and 3-6 from beyond the arc. Bohr scored the go-ahead, and ultimately game winning shot with 40-seconds remaining in the 64-63 victory while adding six rebounds. She has recorded 10 or more points in eight of her last nine matches, including a career-high 23 points against Truman State where Bohr shot 7-15 from the field and 9-9 at the charity stripe.
PLAYMAKING POINT FORWARD… In the Peacocks victory over SBU,
Helen Staley hauled in seven rebounds, while dishing out six assists without a turnover. Staley currently ranks in the top ten in the GLVC in four different categories, highlighted by being fourth with 3.7 assists per game while ranking second overall with a 2.1 assist to turnover ratio. Staley has also recorded an average of 7.8 rebounds per game which ranks eighth overall in the GLVC and her 1.1 blocked shots per game is the 5th most in the conference.
SCHOOL RECORD SETTER… Mia Huberty has broken an Upper Iowa division two record by scoring in double figures for 17 consecutive games. The previous record had stood for 15-years when Kenya Howard scored ten or more points for 16 straight games in the 2009-10 season. Huberty has continued to lead the GLVC in scoring with an average of 19.4 points per game, while shooting very efficiently at 45.7% from the floor, 45.5% from three, and 82.3% at the free throw line. She is the only player in the conference to reach 30-points in a game multiple times, and three of the top ten highest scoring games in the GLVC have come from Huberty. She also ranks second on the team with averages of 6.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
PEACOCK SEASON HIGHS… (*) new addition
BOUT WITH THE BLUE TIGERS… Lincoln tipped off the season with a win over Harris Stowe but have since gone on a 17-game losing streak, with an 0-12 GLVC record. They met with the Peacocks earlier this season, where UIU achieved a 69-56 victory in Jefferson City, Mo. Sophomore Hanne Nybo leads all scorers with an average of 10.1 points while hauling in a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game. She has posted three double-doubles on the season, and is coming off a 16-point, 11-rebound performance over Illinois Springfield. Junior Imani Harris missed some time due to injury, but she has averaged 13.0 points per game over the past five games since her return. This includes a season-high 22 points over McKendree where she shot 10-17 from the floor while adding two steals and one block.
MATCHUP WITH THE MINERS… Missouri S&T has recorded a mark of 11-7 while going 6-6 in the GLVC. They also met with the Peacocks near the start of December, where the Miners secured a 66-64 win. Sophomore Norah Gum has put up a team-high 11.6 points per game, while shooting 47.9% from the floor and 30.0% from three. She has added 5.6 rebounds per game, and is coming off a 14-point, 12-rebound performance this past weekend against Lewis. Senior Katelynne Roberts has recorded nearly identical stats with 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. She has shot 50.9% on the season which ranks 5th in the conference, and has scored in double figures in 12 of S&T's last 14 matches. Roberts also leads the GLVC with an average of 2.0 blocks per game and she has recorded three or more blocks seven times. Redshirt-sophomore Anna Finley has added 9.6 points per game on 40.4% shooting, while dishing out a team-high 2.9 assists per game.
