AROUND THE GLVC… The Peacocks picked up a big time victory this past weekend at Maryville, where they maintain eighth place in the GLVC Point Rating System. The win helped boost their rating to 3.24, where they currently rank 0.01 points below McKendree for the seventh seed. HUBERTY IN THE CLUTCH… Mia Huberty put up 22 points in the Peacocks 54-52 win over Maryville, where she shot 7-16 from the floor, 2-4 from three and 6-8 at the free throw line. She added another game winner to her resume, as Huberty swished a deep two pointer from the elbow with one second remaining to give the Peacocks the win. She followed that up with a 12-point game against UMSL where she shot a perfect 6-6 at the charity stripe. Huberty continues to be on pace for the GLVC scoring title as she is averaging 18.5 points per game on incredibly efficient shooting splits (44.0% FG | 43.8% 3PT | 82.5% FT). She has added 5.4 boards per game and ranks second on the squad with 2.7 assists per game.
FRESHMAN PHENOM… Lindsey Davis is coming off one of her best weekends of the season, as she scored nine points with two steals and one block against Maryville and 12 points with three rebounds against Missouri-St. Louis. She is averaging 7.1 points per game which ranks 5th in the conference amongst true freshmen while shooting 39.6% from the floor and 80.0% at the free throw line. She has recorded double figures six times this season and has hauled in an average of 2.3 rebounds per game.
PEACOCK SEASON HIGHS…
PRAIRIE STARS PREVIEW… Illinois Springfield has recorded a mark of 5-19 while going 4-12 in GLVC play. Sophomore Kayla Rice ranks third in the conference with an average of 17.1 points per game on 32.7% shooting. She has scored 20 or more points nine times this season, and is coming off a 22-point performance against UIndy where she shot 12-16 at the free throw line. Rice has also recorded a conference-leading 3.2 steals per game for a total of 76 steals, while the second closest competitor has recorded 2.3 steals per game for a total of 54 steals. Rice has posted at least one steal for 22-consecutive games and has stolen the ball six or more times in four games on the year. Sophomore Emari Doby has added 12.2 points per game on 41.7% shooting. She has recorded 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, and she is also coming off a 22-point game against UIndy on 8-16 shooting from the floor.
BEARCATS BATTALION… McKendree has fared much better as they have gone 13-9 on the year with a 9-7 GLVC record. Sophomore Baylie Parks trails only Huberty with 18.4 points per game while ranking fifth in the conference on 52.4% shooting from the field. Parks has also hauled in a GLVC leading 9.9 rebounds per game with an average of 3.0 offensive rebounds. She has posted ten double doubles this year and she recorded a season-high 35 points against Maryville on 12-21 shooting. Kyra Taylor leads all freshman with an average of 11.5 points per game and her 56.6% shooting from the floor ranks first overall in the conference. She has scored in double figures for ten consecutive games, highlighted by a season-high 22 points on 10-13 shooting against Truman State. Sophomore Emma Slings has added 7.2 points per game while shooting 48.3% from the floor and 46.3% from three-point range. She has recorded an average of 2.5 rebounds and has dished out a team-high 3.2 assists per game
