Box Score The Peacocks have advanced to the GLVC Semifinals as they achieved a dominating victory over the McKendree Bearcats by a score of 79-66.
Kayla Bohr opened the scoring for Upper Iowa on a midrange jumper and
Alaina Brenning would add back-to-back buckets on a turn around jumper and a driving layup.
Katie Tornstrom knocked down a three pointer and she added a pair of free throws to give UIU a 13-11 lead. Bohr added two more midrange jumpers before a three pointer by McKendree would push them into the lead.
Cassidy Pagel scored a layup on the following possession and Evenson made her second buzzer beater in a row, scoring on a midrange jumper to end the first quarter. Upper Iowa shot 10-17 in the first where they took a 23-20 lead.
 Pagel scored consecutive baskets to begin the second quarter and Bohr scored on multiple layups to give her ten points in the half. Evenson cashed a three pointer at the 5:30 mark which boosted the Peacocks lead to 34-26. The Peacocks continued their hot shooting streak as Brenning also converted on a three pointer before McKendree would draw a foul and cut into the lead at the free throw line. Naomi McDaniel scored the final six points for the Bearcats to end the half, which included a midrange jumper buzzer beater. The Peacocks maintained their lead throughout the entire second quarter, ending the half up 43-38.
Brenning scored a contested layup atop the third quarter and Evenson added her 12th point of the day on a pull up jumper. Bohr extended the Peacocks lead to ten, as she scored on an and-one layup at the seven-minute mark. The Bearcats scored on a jumper and converted on a layup, before
Mia Huberty scored a layup of her own. With a four-point lead, Tornstrom swished a three pointer from the logo and
Ava Privet added a three-pointer of her own, which forced McKendree to call a timeout. Tornstrom continued to excel throughout the third as she quickly forced a turnover before Huberty would record her tenth rebound of the game at the one-minute mark. UIU finished the third quarter shooting 7-12 and they outrebounded McKendree 12-5.
Bohr took over in the fourth quarter as she scored eight straight points for UIU on a pair of layups, a hook shot, and a midrange jumper to give her 21 points on the day. A contested layup by Tornstrom would give the Peacocks a 71-58 lead with 4:30 remaining. Brenning was able to convert both her shots at the free throw line before making a layup at the two-minute mark. With the Peacocks up by 11, Tornstrom knocked down another three pointer with 55-seconds remaining, to ice the game. The #7-seeded Peacocks shocked the #2 Bearcats 79-66 to advance to the semifinals. The Peacocks outscored McKendree in all four quarters and they shot 51.6% as a team and 40.0% from the three-point line.
Kayla Bohr scored a career-high 21 points on 10-18 shooting and she added four rebounds and a blocked shot.
Katie Tornstrom recorded 15 points on 5-10 shooting while going 3-6 from beyond the arc. She hauled in a team-high 11 rebounds to give her six double-doubles on the year.
Alaina Brenning scored a career-high 13 points on 5-7 shooting while also blocking a shot.
Brooke Evenson put together a 12-point, five-rebound performance where she shot a perfect 5-5 from the floor.
Mia Huberty finished with nine points on 3-9 shooting and she recorded a career-high ten rebounds while also leading the Peacocks with five assists.
The Peacocks will face either #3 Drury or #6 Rockhurst in the conference semifinals on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 2:15 p.m.
