THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK WOMEN'S BASKETBALL… Upper Iowa will be taking their second-to-last road trip of the regular season as they take on the Indianapolis Greyhounds, Thursday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. and the Lewis Flyers on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.

BE ON THE LOOKOUT… Brooke Evenson has scored 978 points in her Upper Iowa career, and is 22 points away from joining the 1K club. She has recorded a season-high 18 points four times this season and has scored in double figures in 13 of UIU's 18 contests. Evenson has been the Peacocks best rebounder as she leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game and has put up four double-double performances, highlighted by an 18-point, 13-rebound game in the Peacocks road win over McKendree, which ended their nine-game winning streak. Evenson has also averaged 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per game, making her one of only two players in the GLVC to average more than one steal and one block per game.
PLAYERS ON THE RISE… The Peacocks are coming off their highest scoring game of the season, where they scored 95 points in an overtime shootout with McKendree. The Peacocks shot 40% from the three-point line and made 35-75 total shots as a team (46.7%).
Kayla Bohr and
Cassidy Pagel each set their season-highs in the game while
Amelia Valentino tied her season-high. Bohr scored 16 points on 6-10 shooting, making all four of her free throw attempts. She has averaged 10.3 points over the Peacocks previous six games and recorded a 14-point, 10-rebound game against Drury in that span. Pagel added 15 points on a very efficient 7-10 shooting and also recorded three rebounds. She has scored in double figures three times in the Peacocks last seven games, while converting on 52.3% of her shots. Valentino scored 12 points for the second time this season in what was her most efficient game as she shot 4-5 from the three-point line. Valentino had previously scored 12 points on 4-6 three-point shooting against Truman State, and has shot 7-11 from beyond the arc in UIU's past three matchups.
Alaina Brenning had a great all-around performance against McKendree, where she set a season-high with eight rebounds in the game. She added seven points and dished out four assists for the third time this season.
ICE IN HER VEINS… Katie Tornstrom scored 21 and 22 points in the Peacocks two games this weekend, surpassing the 20-point mark for the eighth and ninth time this season. During her 22-point performance against McKendree, Tornstrom swished her most clutch shot attempt of the season, on a step back three pointer with three seconds remaining, to send the game to overtime. She has made four+ three pointers in a game eleven times, and her 3.06 made three pointers a game are the most in the GLVC.

GOING AT THE GREYHOUNDS… UIndy has posted an 11-9 mark, while going 8-6 in GLVC play. The Greyhounds are coming off a very successful road trip where they won both of their games, highlighted by an 80-55 victory over Maryville. Indianapolis is led by junior Elana Wells who is averaging a team-high 16.4 points per game on 43.3% shooting from the field and 34.5% from beyond the arc. Wells scored a season-high 32 points in her first meeting with Upper Iowa, and has surpassed the 20-point mark eight times. She is just as great on the playmaking end as her 4.4 assists per game ranks fourth in the GLVC. Junior Liv Becker is averaging 14.1 points per game and she has served as the team's go-to three pointer shooter, posting a 41.6% mark from beyond the arc. She scored a season-high 34 points against St. Mary-Woods and has added two double-doubles on the year. Sophomore Patricia Chikamba has averaged 8.2 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game, with 21 steals on the year.
FACE OFF WITH THE FLYERS… Lewis has gone 12-8 on the season and their 11-3 GLVC record has them seeded second in the conference. Four players have averaged double figures for the Flyers, led by fifth year Grace Hilber's 15.6 points per game. Hilber is shooting 42.2% from the floor and is coming off a season-high 30-point performance against Missouri S&T. Senior Kathryn Schmidt is averaging 13.1 points alongside a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game. She has put together four double-digit rebound performances on the year, with two coming in the past three games. Junior Jenna Badali is averaging 12.4 points per game and has converted on 34.4% of her three-point attempts. Her 4.6 assists per game rank third in the conference and she's tied with senior Taylor Gugliuzza for most steals on the team with 28. Gugliuzza is also averaging 11.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She is shooting 42.9% from the field and has scored in double figures in nine of the Flyers last ten games.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will return home for their first of two consecutive weekends where they'll be competing at Dorman Memorial Gymnasium. UIU takes on Missouri S&T on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. and Maryville on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.
