THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK WOMEN'S BASKETBALL… Upper Iowa returns to Missouri for the second time this season for a double header weekend. The Peacocks face William Jewell on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. before going up against a much better team in Rockhurst on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 12 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTING THE PEACOCKS… The Peacocks have posted a 3-3 mark in the month of January, highlighted by an 84-75 upset victory on the road against McKendree who have a perfect 10-0 record against all other GLVC opponents. Upper Iowa has gone 8-6 overall and their 5-5 GLVC record has them seated at 8th place in the conference.
Katie Tornstrom is coming off her fourth 20-point double-double of the season, as she scored 25 points and added 11 rebounds in the Peacocks victory over Southwest Baptist. She has scored at least 20 points in seven of the Peacocks 14 games, leading all scorers with 17.5 points per game. Following Tornstrom's five steal performance against SBU, she is now averaging 2.1 steals per game which is tied for the second highest in the GLVC.
Mia Huberty has put together three of her four highest scoring performances over the course of the Peacocks past five games, scoring 27 points against Lewis before recording back-to-back 18-point games against Quincy and Drury. She has averaged 15.4 points per game on the year and has made 20 of her past 21 free throw attempts.
Brooke Evenson matched her season-high 18 points against Southwest Baptist, which is the fourth time she's scored exactly 18 points this season. She has recorded four double-doubles on the year and her 1.2 blocks per game are the 6th highest in the GLVC.

COMPETING WITH THE CARDINALS… William Jewell has gone 4-13 to start the season and have posted a 2-9 mark in GLVC play. They are currently on a five-game losing streak and are coming off a 67-79 loss to Missouri S&T. William Jewell is led by a trio of sophomores who have combined for 59.7% of their points. Ayden Shannon is averaging 16.9 points per game which is the 6th highest in the GLVC. She is shooting 41.4% from the floor and has scored 20+ points seven times this season. Her season high came against Missouri-St. Louis where she scored 27 points while shooting 5-7 from three. Emree Zars has averaged 14.2 points per game on very impressive shooting splits (47.0% FG, 39.5% 3PT, 74.0% FT). She leads all Cardinals with 5.8 rebounds per game and put together a 27-point, 11-rebound performance against Northern Michigan. Rounding out the Cardinals big three is Chloe Frank who has averaged 8.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, while recording a team-high 22 steals.
READY FOR ROCKHURST… The Hawks have had a much better start to their season, posting a 9-6 record while going 6-5 in GLVC play. They went on a five-game win streak that started back in December and scored 109 points in a victory against Illinois Springfield, which is the most points scored in a GLVC game this season. Rockhurst has been great on the defensive end as they're the only team in the GLVC with multiple players averaging at least one block per game (Keegan Sullivan and Rebeca Garcia) and Ali Kamies is tied with
Katie Tornstrom for the second most steals, averaging 2.1 per game. Kamies has also been the Hawks' go-to playmaker dishing out a team-high 29 assists. She has averaged 9.3 points per game and is shooting 40.7% from the floor. In addition to her 1.1 block per game, Sullivan has averaged 1.4 steals per game and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per game. She is averaging 11.5 points per game on sensational shooting splits (40.5% FG, 42.9% 3PT, 82.1% FT) and put together a 13-point, 13-rebound performance against Missouri Valley. Macie Conway leads all scorers with 12.2 points per game on 36.5% shooting from beyond the arc. She was the main reason the Hawks were able to eclipse the 100-point mark against UIS as she scored a season-high 31 points on a perfect 5-5 three-point shooting, while making all 12 of her free throw attempts.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS… The Peacocks will return to Fayette at the start of February for consecutive home games. UIU faces Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. where they will look to avenge their 74-60 loss to the Tritons earlier this season. The Peacocks will then face McKendree on Saturday, Feb. 3 where they will look to finish the season 2-0 against the Bearcats.
