The Peacocks had their hands full against a resilient Drury team that's receiving votes for the NABC Top 25. After a very evenly matched first half, the Peacocks were unable to keep up with the Panthers, suffering an 88-69 loss.
Kayla Bohr put together a very impressive performance, scoring the Peacocks first four points of the game, finishing with a team-high eight in in the first half on 4-6 shooting. While the Panthers led the entire first half, Upper Iowa never fell behind by more than seven points.
Sydnee Nelson knocked down a late three with a minute remaining in the half, before a
Mia Huberty layup reduced UIU's deficit to two points with 30 seconds remaining. Huberty and
Brooke Evenson both finished with seven points in the half, while Evenson added a block and a steal. The Peacocks assisted on seven shots in the first half, with
Katie Tornstrom leading the way with four assists.
Upper Iowa was able to tie the game at 42 apiece three minutes into the third quarter on an
Amelia Valentino three-pointer. Drury responded with a pair of layups and midrange jumpers, to gain back their seven-point lead. A UIU 6-0 run would cut the lead to one, with Tornstrom making consecutive jump shots, before Bohr added another layup. Unfortunately for the Peacocks, Drury knocked down three straight three-pointers to end the half, where they gained a ton of momentum and never looked back. The Panthers outscored the Peacocks by ten in the fourth quarter, securing their 12
th victory of the season in an 88-69 victory.
Kayla Bohr led the way for the Peacocks putting together her first double-double performance of the season, with 14 points on 7-12 shooting. She hauled in ten rebounds, with five coming on the offensive end.
Mia Huberty led all Peacocks scorers with 18 points on 7-16 shooting while going 4-5 at the charity stripe.
Katie Tornstrom finished with 12 points and five rebounds while putting together a career-high nine assist performance.
Brooke Evenson added nine points and nine rebounds, and extended her streak of recording at least one block to ten games.
The Peacocks will stay at home for their next matchup against the Southwest Baptist Bearcats, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m.
