PEACOCK HUE REVIEW… In UIU's first battle last weekend, they struggled to keep up with UMary and suffered an 80-56 loss.  The Marauders got off to a 16-2 lead in the first five minutes of the game. UIU retaliated with a 9-0 run, but regardless of their rebuttal, the Marauders' early scoring fashion foreshadowed their fate, as the Peacocks fell short in the end result. Upper Iowa had three reach double figures. Huberty led the team with 13 points on 5-12 shooting, including netting 3-6 from long distance. Haack contributed 11 points and handed out four assists. Evenson tallied ten points in the contest.

In their second matchup last weekend, Upper Iowa led by one going into the final quarter against Minot State, but ended up being outscored by their opponent 28-16 in the last ten minutes. The Beavers' high shooting percentage and scoring pattern in the fourth sent the Peacocks home empty handed. Upper Iowa fell on the road in a 72-61 final. The Peacocks were led by Torrnstrom who netted 17 points going 6-17 from the floor, including 4-9 from long range. Lydia Haack contributed 16 and dished out four assists. Lexie Lodermeier hauled in eight rebounds.

EVERYBODY LOVES LYDIA… Junior Lydia Haack has continued to notch her way onto a handful of the top 10 leaderboards in the NSIC.  She is eighth in points per game (15.6), third in assists per game (4.3), third in free throw percentage (59-70, 84.3%) and ninth in field goal percentage (113-258, 43.8%).

Haack is contending for a spot in record books for the category of total assists in a single season. She is sitting at 81 assists on the year (4.3 per game) with eight regular season contests left. Sam Thrap was the most recent player to make it on to the list in 2014-15, tallying 120 assists that season. Tara Heller is the last player on the list with 110 assists in the 1999-00 season.

TORNSTROM TEARS FROM THREE… Senior Katie Tornstrom has been lighting it up from deep as she is currently ninth in the NSIC for three-point field goals per game. In Upper Iowa's last three contests, the Caledonia, Minn. native has converted 38.9% (7-18) beyond the arc. She has been a large variable of the Peacocks' improved three point percentage, as the team shot a 35.2 % (25-71) clip in the past three games.

SCOUTING THE DRAGONS… MSU comes into the weekend with an overall record of 9-9 and 6-8 in conference, notching them in 6th place in the NSIC North. In their most recent matchups, they defeated Concordia-St. Paul 73-65 and fell to Minnesota State Mankato 77-70. The squad has three scoring double figures. Peyton Boom leads the way with 15 points per game and also leads in rebounds with 8.4 per contest. Mariah Mckeever nets 14.3 points per game and hauls in 6.5 rebounds per game.  Natalie Jens averages 14.2 points per game and has accumulated 60 assists on the season so far.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES…  Northern State enters this weekend 12-8 overall and 7-7 in conference, placing them in 5th in the NSIC North. The Wolves are fourth in the NSIC for points allowed from opponents with an average of 60.6 per game.  They are currently on a three game winning streak, including defeating #12 Minnesota State 72-69. Their other recent triumphs were against SMSU and Concordia-St. Paul. The Wolves are led in scoring by Kailee Oliverson with 13.2 points per game and their leader in assists is Rianna Fillipi with 3.7 per game.

DOWN THE SNOWY STRETCH... Coming up, the Peacocks are back in Dorman Gymnasium next weekend for their last two-game series of home contests.
