RECAP... The Peacocks won their No. 2 doubles match, but the Bulldogs claimed the No. 1 and 3 doubles matches to open the dual with a 1-0 lead. The Upper Iowa duo of Varvara Ogorodnikova and Lina Ziani claimed a hard-fought 7-6 victory in No. 2 doubles action to win for the fifth straight time and improve to a 5-2 record on the season as a No. 2 doubles pair.

Looking to bounce back from a loss in which the Peacocks were plagued by fatigue caused by effects of the Covid-19 vaccine, Upper Iowa was unable to get their legs back under them and secure any singles points. The No. 1 singles match ended early as UIU was forced to retire due to fatigue. In No. 2 singles, Ogorodnikova was retired just before the end of a highly competitive and tightly contested match for sportsmanship purposes. Ziani also played a tight match in No. 3 singles, but fell 7-5, 7-6. Upper Iowa was only able to win one set in singles play as they fell by a score of 7-0 in the dual.

UP NEXT... The Peacocks are currently scheduled to wrap up their season with a pair of NSIC duals in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Apr. 17 and 18. Upper Iowa will play against Augustana University (S.D.) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 17 before seeing the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Apr. 18.
