The Upper Iowa University women's basketball team kept an identical scoring pace with the Winona State University Warriors in the second half, but a decisive run to end the opening period and a better second quarter gave WSU the advantage they needed to win the game. The Warriors benefited from a 28-12 advantage in points off turnovers as they forced 23 UIU giveaways while only coughing it up 13 times. The 77-61 Winona win moved them up to a 4-7 (4-6Â NSIC) record on the season while the Peacocks fell to 1-14 (0-13Â NSIC) on the year.
Turning Points…
The game started with back-and-forth runs from each squad in the first quarter as the Peacocks answered a 7-0 start from the Warriors with an 11-0 run of their own. Winona continued the seesaw scoring action by putting together a 12-0 run to close out the final 4:13 of the opening period and take a 19-11 lead into the second.
Seniors Natalie Dinius and Savannah Domeyer scored seven of the team's first nine second-quarter points to power the Peacock offensive attack. Dinius finished the quarter with 5 points after knocking down a 3PT shot and going 2-2 from the charity stripe, while Domeyer shot 2-2 from both the floor and the free throw line as she notched 6 of her 8 first-half points in the second period. The Warriors outscored the Peacocks 25-17 in the second and took a 44-28 lead into the halftime break.
Neither Upper Iowa nor Winona State took an advantage in the second half as both teams combined for 33 points apiece with each side scoring 19 in the third and 14 in the fourth quarters. The Warriors would go on to claim a 77-61 victory.

Dinius tied the Peacock high score with 11 points in the contest. She knocked down two shots from behind the 3PT arc and shot a perfect 3-3 (100%) from the free throw line while also grabbing 3 rebounds.
Domeyer notched 11 points on 3-5 (60%) shooting from the field and a team-high 5 makes and 6 attempts (83.3%) from the FT line. The senior center also pulled down 4 rebounds and sent away a season-high 3 opponent shots.Â
Brooke Evenson scored 10 points, going 4-9 (44.4%) from the floor, 1-3 (33.3%) from three, and 1-1 (100%) from the free throw line. She contributed a team-high 3 assists, secured 5 rebounds, and snagged one steal.Â
Senior Ally Fink scored a season-high 9 points for the Peacocks as she shot 50% from the field (4-8) and from deep (1-2). She tied a season-high with 5 rebounds in the contest as well.

Taylor Hustad scored a game-high 16 points on 8-12 (66.7%) shooting from the field. She also grabbed 7 rebounds and provided 3 assists.
Emily Kieck and Allie Pickrain scored 11 points apiece for WSU. Kieck shot 5-6 (83.3%) from the FT line and added 2 rebounds while Pickrain shot 3-6 (50%) from the 3PT line and added 2 steals.
Emma Fee scored 9 points while shooting 5-6 (83.3%) from the charity stripe and pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds.Â
Jenna Bruss and Ava Sergio scored 9 points each for the Warriors, with Bruss shooting 2-3 (66.7%) from deep and 3-4 (75%) from the FT line and Sergio shooting 4-8 (50%) from the field.Â
