The Upper Iowa University women's basketball team was unable to break the press defense of the Mavericks as MSU forced 34 Peacock turnovers while only giving it away 9 times, leading to a 41-7 advantage in points off turnovers. The teams tied one another with 43 rebounds apiece, but Mankato was fueled by a 19 point advantage from the free throw line and a 65-31 advantage in bench points. The 103-47 Maverick victory advanced them to a 7-5 (6-4 NSIC) record on the year while the Peacocks fell to 1-12 (0-11 NSIC) on the season.
Peacock Leaders…
Lydia Haack led the Peacocks in scoring with 7 points. She tied a season-high with four rebounds while also chipping in an assist on the night.
Alaina Brenning grabbed a season-high and team-leading 7 rebounds, all coming in the first half of play. She added 2 points from the charity stripe and 1 assist for the game.
Aliyah Robinson was one of three Peacocks who scored 6 points apiece. Her season-high 6 points all came in the fourth quarter, and she added 2 steals, 1 assist, and 1 rebound. The other scorers with a half dozen points were Cassidy Pagel who contributed 4 rebounds and team-high 3 assists, and Bailey Winter who grabbed 4 rebounds as well.
Maverick Leaders…
Maddy Olson led the Mavericks with 20 points as she scored 10 in each half. She shot 6-9 (66.7%) from the floor, 4-6 (66.7%) from the 3PT line, and 4-4 (100%) from the free throw line while snagging a game-high 5 steals and providing 3 assists.
The Mavericks had three other players score in double-digits. The performances included included a 12 point, 8 rebound game from Rachel Shumski and 11-point games from Shea Fuller and Rylee Menster
Joey Batt was one of two Mavericks with 9 points, and she finished with a game-high 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds. Ali Hunstad scored 9 points in six minutes of action, going 3-3 (100%) from behind the 3PT arc.
