SATURDAY'S SUPER SENIORS… Saturday's Peacock action was highlighted by some impressive play coming from UIU seniors Savannah Domeyer, Ally Fink, and Natalie Dinius. The trio combined to score 54.3% of the team's total points in the first game of the weekend double-header. Domeyer led the way as she poured in a season-high 12 points on 5-10 (50%) shooting that included a 1-2 (50%) clip from behind the 3PT arc and a perfect 1-1 (100%) from the charity stripe. She added 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal in Saturday's action and ended the weekend with totals of 18 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Fink powered the Peacock offense in the first half of Saturday's contest as she scored all 7 of her points in 7:24 of play in the first two frames. She went 3-4 (75%) from the floor and 1-1 (100%) from three while sending away one shot in each half on the defensive end. Dinius tipped off the second-half scoring for the Peacocks with a personal 6-0 run after knocking down two shots from deep.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS… Last year's Minnesota State squad finished with a record of 18-11 overall and finished second in the NSIC South Division with a conference record of 13-9 as they advanced to the semi-final game in the NSIC Tournament. The Mavericks were picked to finish first in the 2020-21 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, but their 5-4 NSIC record has them sitting at fifth in the South Division. Minnesota State ranks second in the NSIC in scoring this year at 75.7 points per game, but their scoring defense ranks 13th as they allow 74.4 points per game to opponents. Though they score well, the team ranks 13th in field goal percentage (38.4%), 15th in 3PT percentage (27.8%), and 16th in free throw percentage (63.5%). The Mavericks lead the NSIC in offensive rebounding with 15.3 per game and top the conference in turnover margin (7.36) and turnovers forced (23.5) as they lead the NSIC in steals and have seven players average one or more takeaway per game. Minnesota State has an experienced team that includes four seniors, six juniors, and three sophomores including NSIC All-Freshman Team member Joey Batt. Seniors Tayla Stuttley (13.7 ppg) and Rachel Shumski (13.6 ppg) partner with Batt (13.5 ppg) to form the Mavericks' trio of double-digit scorers.
