Box Score Upper Iowa lost a 75-62 decision at home on Saturday to the Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Peacocks couldn't overcome cold-shooting against the Mavericks as the visitors took a big lead in the second and third quarters and held on for the conference victory. MSU picked up their first NSIC win of the season to improve to 1-3 in the conference and 2-7 overall. UIU fell to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in the Northern Sun.

The Peacocks took a 13-12 lead into the second quarter, but the Mavericks used a 13-5 run to open the frame to push out to a 26-17 advantage. Minnesota State maintained their lead until the final seconds of the half when a pair of
Ashley Ray free throws and a buzzer-beating three-pointer by
Blair Klostermann to slim the halftime lead to six points, 34-28.

Midway through the third quarter, Upper Iowa made their move and pulled within four points, 42-38, after back-to-back three pointers by
Ashley Rosenstiel and
Emma Gaber. Unfortunately, the Mavericks took control of the game over the next six minutes thanks to a 14-2 run that put MSU ahead by sixteen, with nine minutes to play in the fourth. UIU was unable to drop the margin into single digits and keep the rally moving in the fourth quarter.

Klostermann led the Peacocks with 21 points and 4 rebounds, while
Ashley Ray chipped in 12 points and a pair of rebounds. Rosenstiel pulled down a team-high 8 rebounds.

For the game, UIU shot 28.8% after converting only 17 of their 59 attempts from the floor and 6 of their 25 long range attempts.

The Peacocks will head to Winona State University on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. for their only game of the week.
