THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK WOMEN'S HOOPS... UIU hosts Winona State University in the Northern Sun Conference opener on Saturday. The teams will tip off at 2 p.m. in Dorman Gym. Both teams will look to begin their conference schedules on the right foot with a win. UIU comes in having won two of their last three games to improve their record to 2-3, while the Warriors are 4-0 on the year. Both teams played in the Subway Classic hosted by Quincy University last weekend.

COMING UP "ROSE'S… Senior
Ashley Rosenstiel is averaging 8.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Peacocks this season. The Oelwein native is shooting 42% from the floor and 46% from behind the three-point line. Rosenstiel not getting off the floor much during the games; she averages just short of 31 minutes per game and Head Coach
Micha Thompson is counting on her consistency. Last week, Rosenstiel averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds per game with Upper Iowa claiming victories in two of the three games.Â
BLAIR IS BACK... After an injury to her knee late in the 2016-17 season, junior Blair Klostermann has returned to the lineup this season and continues to be aggressive getting into the paint and creating contact. Klostermann leads the Peacocks in scoring with 12 points a game thanks to her ability to get to the free throw line; she is averaging just over five free throw attempts a game. The Dyersville product has made 22 of her 26 shots at the charity stripe. Klostermann is also pulling down 4.2 rebounds per game.
NEW FACES IN THE LINEUP… Six new Peacocks have found their way onto the floor so far this season including Madison Smith, Natalie Dinius and Savannah Domeyer, who have all cracked the starting lineup for Head Coach
Micha Thompson. Â Smith has started three games at point guard and is averaging 2 assists and a1.6 rebounds per game. Dinius started the last two games at point; her scoring average is second on the team with 11.6 per outing. Dinius is converting 46% of her three-point attempts with 12 triples already this season. Domeyer started against Missouri Western and is averaging 5.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block per game from the post. Courtney Schnoor, Emma Gaber and Ally Fink have all gotten time on the floor as well for UIU.

FIRST QUARTER SUCCESS... Upper Iowa has found success on offense during the last three games in the first quarter. The Peacocks averaged 22 points in the opening period last week and are scoring 16.8 points in the first for the season. UIU has not carried that success forward into the remaining periods yet averaging 14 points in the second quarter, 10.8 in the third and 13.8 in the fourth quarter.Â
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS… The Warriors entered the week with a 3-0 record after wins over Beloit College (96-31), Quincy University (69-59) and McKendree University (72-54). On Wednesday, Winona State played host to Waldorf University. The team is led by Allie Pickrain, a freshman from Apple Valley, Minn. Pickrain is averaging 14.3 points per game while shooting 53% from the field including 5-8 behind the arc; she is also second on the team in passing with 2.3 assists per game. Fellow guard Liz Evenocheck is second on the squad in points with a 12.7 per game average. Evenocheck is shooting 48% from the field and has a pair of three-pointers. Returner Hannah McGlone is averaging 9.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while knocking down 54% of her shots.
