THIS WEEK IN PEACOCK WOMEN'S HOOPS… Upper Iowa will take a short trip north to Winona, Minnesota to battle the #16 Warriors of Winona State University on Saturday, Nov. 26 in both teams' Northern Sun Conference opener. UIU enters the contest after four non-conference losses to start the season, while WSU will hit the floor with a 5-1 record including five straight wins.

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CHARITY… The Peacocks are making the most of their trips to the charity stripe this season. As a team, the Peacocks have converted 79.4% (50-63) of their free throw attempts, which ranks 13th nationally and leads the NSIC.

CHASING DOWN 1,000 POINTS... Senior center
Carly Pagel has played in 86 games for the Peacocks and needs just 144 points to become the 12th player in UIU women's basketball history to reach the scoring milestone. The Sumner, Iowa product is averaging 4.3 points a game this season.

A TALE OF TWO HALVES... The Peacocks have been playing well in the first half against a quartet of very talented opponents so far this season. Upper Iowa has not led at halftime, but they are headed to the locker room at the break trailing by an average of seven points. The trouble has come in the second half where opponents have outscored Upper Iowa by an average of just over 16 points (46-29.8).

SCOUTING THE #16 WARRIORS... Winona State is enjoying a great start to their season with a 5-1 mark that includes five straight wins since a season-opening loss. The Warriors traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico for three games and then returned home to battle Maryville University, Quincy University and Concordia College. With the addition of two exhibition losses at Drake University (74-63) and the University of Wisconsin (78-71), Winona State has played 8 games in the early going this year. The Warriors are led by the duo of Tara Roelofs and Kayla Timmerman. Roelofs is averaging 16.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game, while Timmerman is netting 9.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 blocks per contest.

ON THE HORIZON... Upper Iowa will return to Dorman Gymnasium next weekend for a pair of NSIC double headers with the men's basketball team. The Peacocks will take on the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University on Friday at 6 p.m. and the Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday at 4 p.m.
