THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK BASKETBALL... Upper Iowa will look to build off a 74-56 victory over the Beavers of Bemidji State this past Saturday as they move into the final month of the regular season. Upper Iowa will be on the road for two straight weekends in February as four of their final six games are away from the friendly confines of Dorman Gym. On Friday, the Peacocks will take the court against the Bulldogs of the University of Minnesota Duluth, who come into the weekend having split each of their last three weekends in the Northern Sun. UMD is 10-10 overall and 8-8 against the NSIC and sits in a tie for third with UIU's opponent for Saturday. Upper Iowa will face the Huskies of St. Cloud State University on day two. The Huskies have split the last two weekends to cap their 8-8 conference mark, while SCSU has posted a 12-8 mark overall.

WHEN THE BULLDOGS AND HUSKIES CAME TO FAYETTE LAST SEASON… Minnesota Duluth defeated the Peacocks on Prochaska Court, 97-81. The teams were tied at 45 headed to the locker room at halftime, but the Bulldogs dominated the second half scoring 52 points to pull out of town with the win. The Huskies prevailed over the Peacocks by nine, 88-79, in Dorman Gym. Upper Iowa trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half, but pulled within four points late. The Huskies held the home team off at the free throw line to stall the Peacock rally.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS… UMD finished its four-game road trip with a split last weekend, knocking off Sioux Falls 70-65 on Friday night before falling in a nail-biter, 71-68, on Saturday evening against Southwest Minnesota State. Taylor Meyer averaged 20.5 points and 11.0 rebounds for the Bulldogs over the weekend while shooting 53.3% with two assists and four steals. Meyer tallied 19 points while grabbing 20 rebounds, 17 on the defensive end, in Sioux Falls before shooting 60.0% and tallying scoring 22 points in Marshall versus the Mustangs.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES… St. Cloud State earned a weekend split defeating Southwest Minnesota State, 68-60, Friday evening before falling to Sioux Falls, 71-48, on Saturday. On Friday, the Huskies shot 47.3% from the field compared to the Mustangs at 41.8%, SMSU outrebounded the Huskies 35-32 and SCSU forced 17 Mustang turnovers compared to the Huskies 15. Chelsea Nooker led the Huskies with 39 points on the weekend including a career-high 26 points on 10 of 16 shooting from the field on Friday in Marshall. Nooker ranks second in the NSIC in steals with 41 for the season averaging 2.3 steals per game.

THEN THERE WERE TWO... The Peacocks only have two home games left in the regular season. Make plans to be in Fayette on Feb. 20 and 21 as UIU hosts Augustana and Wayne State. Upper Iowa will celebrate Play4Kay Night on Friday and then honor their seniors following the game on Saturday. If you can't make it to Fayette, the home games will be live on KCRG 9.2 and 9.3.
