THIS WEEKEND IN PEACOCK BASKETBALL... Upper Iowa looks to snap a three-game skid this weekend with a pair of home games against NSIC North Division foes, Minot State University and the University of Mary. Friday night's game with the Beavers is set for a 6 p.m. tip, while Saturday's tilt with the Marauders is slated for 4 p.m. The games this weekend will spotlight three of the NSIC's top five scorers. The Beavers' Carly Boag is averaging an NSIC-best 21.9, while Linda Murray of U-Mary is third with 18.9 per game and Whitney Kieffer has the fifth highest average with 17.6.
FOOD DRIVE... The Fayette County Food Shelf is in need of rebuilding its food supply from a fire that destroyed the business on December 31 and Upper Iowa University is lending a hand. Non-perishable food items or cash donations are being collected for the Fayette County Food Shelf through January 10 at the Office of Student Development and the President's Office and now Peacock fans can join in too. A drop-off station will be set up in the lobby of Dorman Gymnasium prior to this weekend's contests against Minot State University and the University of Mary. Any donations are much appreciated and will go directly to the Fayette County Food Shelf.
LAST WEEK FOR THE BEAVERS... Carly Boag earned a pair of double-doubles including a season high 32-point, 14-rebound outburst as Minot State earned the program's first-ever win over a ranked opponent with an 88-71 win over No. 13 Augustana College Saturday. Boag ended the weekend with 43 points, 24 rebounds, six steals, five assists and a block. She has seven double-doubles in 12 games this season and has scored 30 or more points in two of her last three games. The Beavers fell 84-57 to No. 14 Wayne State Friday. The win on Saturday helped the Beavers move into sole possession of second place in the NSIC North Division after the first weekend of North-South play.
LAST WEEK FOR THE MARAUDERS... Despite U-Mary's team struggles, Linda Murray continued her dominance with a pair of 20 point games and has now scored 20 or more six times. Murray started the weekend with a 20 point, 8 rebound performance against No. 13 Augustana. However, her most impressive statistic of the night was her career-high five assists. The following night the 6-2 forward posted 24 points and 11 rebounds against No. 14 Wayne State for her fifth double-double of the season. Murray finished the weekend going 22-for-35 (.629) from the field. The team lost both match ups to Augustana (88-76) and Wayne State (75-67).
SCALING THE ALL-TIME SCORING LIST... Junior Whitney Kieffer, a product of Scales Mound, Ill., is averaging 17.6 points (65th NCAA/5th NSIC) per game and is now shooting 48.1% (12th NSIC) from the floor and 92.9% (11th NCAA/3rd NSIC) from the free throw line. Kieffer also adds 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals (4th NSIC) and 2 assists per game for the Peacocks. The Scales Mound, Ill. native continues her climb up the all-time scoring list at UIU with 1,182 points (68 games - 17.4 ppg). Last weekend, Kieffer passed Angie Baldridge (1,159 - 2000-04) and moved into fourth place on the all-time list. The all-time leader in points is Hall of Famer Vicky (Ringenberg) Rarick (1995-99) with 1,431.

Upper Iowa has outrebounded their opponent in all but two of their twelve contests.
