The Peacocks were on the road to take on the Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul tonight. The home team shot at a 50.9% clip from the field to just over 30% for Upper Iowa. The Golden Bears never trailed and were just too much for the visitors to handle as CU took the contest by a score of 89-53. With the win, Concordia improves to 9-13 overall and 6-10 in Northern Sun play. UIU falls to 2-18 on the season including 2-13 in the NSIC.
CU raced out to a 17-6 advantage just over ten minutes into the game while the Peacocks turned the ball over five times in that span. In the first half, The Golden Bears led by as many as 26, 38-12, with just 23 seconds to go in the frame and that is the lead they took into the locker room at half. Upper Iowa turned the ball over 11 times in the first half while making only five field goals.
Both teams improved their scoring output in the second half as the home team outscored their guests 51-41. The Peacocks outscored their hosts 20-12 in the first six minutes of the second half to cut the deficit to 18, 50-32. The lead would get no smaller than that for Concordia and happened for the last time at 56-38 with just over 11 minutes to play in the game. CU would go on to win the game by a count of 89-53.
