This Weekend in Peacock Basketball... Upper Iowa returns home this Friday and Saturday for the first time since their opening three games.  The Peacocks have been away from Fayette for the last month with a trip to Alaska and three stops in Minnesota.  The Wildcats of Wayne State will be UIU’s guest on Friday night for a 6 p.m. tip, while the Vikings of Augustana will come to Dorman Gym on Saturday for a 4 p.m. start.  Wayne State, currently 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the NSIC, is ranked #12 in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll.  The Wildcats lone loss came at Augustana on the NSIC’s opening weekend.  Augie is undefeated at 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference and holds the sixth spot in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll.

Lucky Number 13... Whitney Kieffer (#13) is 3rd in the NSIC and 35th in the nation in scoring at 18.8 points per game; the Scales Mound, Ill. product is also sixth in the NSIC in steals with 2.8 per game and 12th in the conference in rebounding at 7.3 per contest.  She was named the NSIC’s first Player of the Week this season after opening her sophomore campaign with her third career double-double. Kieffer scored 31 points and pulled down 10 boards against William Jewell; she also added 6 steals and 3 assists.

Carroll Locked In at the Line... Lindsay Carroll is averaging 9.3 points per game for UIU and is second on the team in scoring thanks to her great start at the free throw line. The Western Illinois transfer has made all but three of her 30 of her attempts at the charity stripe while shooting 46.4% (13-28) from the three-point line. Her 90% conversion rate at the free throw line is 5th best in the conference and 29th best in the country.  Despite measuring up at 5-6, Carroll is averaging 3.8 rebounds per game including a 6.3 average in three NSIC games.

Herrick’s On Target... Senior Jennifer Herrick is tied for third on the UIU roster in scoring with 8.9 points per game and she is on target from beyond the arc.  Herrick has hit 46.2% (12-26) of her three-point attempts and has converted 12 of her 14 attempts at the charity stripe this year.

Pagel Heating Up… Freshman Carly Pagel has improved her averages since UIU moved into the NSIC season.  Pagel is averaging 8.9 points per game this year, but is netting 13 points per NSIC contest while shooting nearly 52% (16-31) in those games.  She is also averaging more than 6 rebounds per game.
