Tonight, the Peacocks took on the Vikings of Augustana College in Dorman Gymnasium. The Vikings scored 58 points in the second half and shot over 50% (18-35) from the field to defeat Upper Iowa by a score of 97-65. With the win, Augie improves to 13-3 overall and 10-2 in the Northern Sun. Upper Iowa falls to 1-15 on the season including 1-11 in conference play.
Augustana opened the game up with an 18-4 run through the first eleven and a half minutes. UIU would then go on an 18-9 run of their own to get back within 5, 22-27, with 3:13 to play in the first half. The run was fueled by eight points from Lyndsay Westgaard. AC wouldn't let the lead get any smaller and increased their advantage to 13, 26-39, heading into the locker room.
To begin the second frame, the Vikings would increase their lead to 20, 28-48, just three minutes in. Over the next five minutes, Upper Iowa would go on a 16-9 run jump started by five points from Jeri Jacobson as well as four more from Jennifer Herrick. Augustana would then use a 20-3 run to go up 77-47 and never let the game get close winning by a final count of 97-65.
