The Peacocks were unable to dig out of a first half hole tonight at Minnesota State University Moorhead.  The Dragons held their guests to just 20 points in the opening half on 22% shooting and claimed an 11-point lead at the break.  Upper Iowa lost their shot at a second straight win dropping the contest by a 60-49 score.

UIU's defense played well on the night holding MSUM to just 60 points and a cool 36% shooting from the floor, but the offense never got the jump start it needed in Alex Nemzek Hall. 

MSU Moorhead slowly worked out to a 13-6 lead midway through the first half and increased their advantage to nineteen points thanks to a 18-6 run over the next six minutes.   Upper Iowa rallied over the final four minutes of the half registering an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 11 points, 31-20, at the break.  The Dragons took advantage of 10 Peacock turnovers and converted them into 13 points.

The teams opened the second half showing signs of life on offense as they combined for 22 points in the first four minutes as UIU pulled slimmed the lead to single digits, 41-32.  MSU Moorhead responded with a quick 8-0 run to reestablish a 17-point advantage, 49-32.  Fueled by a short 7-1 run, Upper Iowa cut the gap back to nine, 53-44, as the clock moved under five minutes to play.  The Peacocks would not got any closer of the final minutes dropping the NSIC decision, 60-49.
