This Week in Women’s Basketball...
Weather forced the first contests of the 2011 season to be pushed back to this past Monday and Tuesday which forced Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference officials to also reschedule this weekend’s matchups. Instead of playing Friday and Saturday, the Peacock Women’s Basketball team will now play Saturday and Sunday when they visit St. Cloud State and Concordia-St. Paul for their first road games of the new year. Both matchups are scheduled for 2 p.m.
Scouting the Huskies
St. Cloud State enters Saturday’s matchup with a 6-5 record overall which includes a 3-4 mark in NSIC contests and have lost three of their last four matchups after dropping games on Monday and Tuesday at Augustana (81-67) and at Wayne State (69-42).
The Huskies are led by freshman Sam Price (10.9 points per game) and record the most steals of any team in the conference per outing (11.09 per game).
Scouting the Golden Bears
The Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul hold a 3-8 record overall and a 2-5 mark in league play entering Saturday’s contest versus Winona State. The Golden Bears have lost three straight after falling to Wayne State 83-64 on Monday and Augustana, 84-75, on Tuesday.
CU is led by the seventh leading scorer in the NSIC in senior Maurika Hickman. Hickman is averaging 14.7 points per game and is shooting 43.5% from the floor in her final year as a Golden Bear.
Series History
Since transitioning to NCAA Division II, the Peacocks are 0-13 combined when playing this weekend’s opponents. Concordia-St. Paul holds a 9-0 advantage against the Peacocks while St. Cloud State is 4-0 when playing Upper Iowa.
The Last Meeting
The Peacocks and Huskies last met on December 5, 2009 in the only meeting between the two teams last season. SCSU defeated Upper Iowa 81-60 in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
The Peacocks and Golden Bears met in the season finale for Upper Iowa in Fayette. UIU dropped the matchup, 67-55.

The Peacocks return home next weekend for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchups inside Dorman Gym.
On Friday, Jan. 14, the Peacocks welcome the Dragons of MSU Moorhead to Fayette before the Golden Eagles of UM, Crookston visit northeast Iowa on Saturday. Tipoff for both tilts is slated for 6 p.m.
