The Peacock Volleyball team closed out the 2009 St. Cloud State Tournament in fine fashion Saturday night as they defeated the host, St. Cloud State Huskies in a non-conference affair, 3-1. The Huskies took game one, 25-21, before the Peacocks rallied to take the next three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-21.

UIU was led offensively by Senior Shea Meyermann who led all hitters with 16 kills while pulling up 18 digs and tallying 2 service aces. Sara Vance and Nicky Brown were also recorded double-digits kills as they chipped in 10 each.

Senior setter Keri Vance dished out 42 assists and helped out defensively with 18 digs while Freshman Maryn Fulton registered 8 kills and assisted on 6 blocks.

The Peacocks (6-3) will take the court next when they host Waldorf College in their home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The Peacocks and Warriors are scheduled to battle at 7 p.m. in Dorman Gym.
