Peacocks Earn Shutout Victory over Tigers

The Upper Iowa men's soccer team played their third straight home match on Wednesday afternoon. The Peacocks welcomed the Tigers of Iowa Wesleyan College to Pattison Field in Fayette. The two teams were scoreless through the first forty-two minutes, but Josh Danielson put the home team on the board first with a goal before halftime. Despite a number of chances for both teams in the second half, the Peacock goal held up as Upper Iowa claimed the 1-0 victory.

Upper Iowa put a mark in the goal column in the 43rd minute. Danielson took a feed at the right corner of the 18-yard box and pushed in toward the Tiger netminder. After taking a shot that was stopped by the visiting keeper, the freshman from Burlington, Iowa quickly knocked the rebound across the goal line for the score.

Andy Youde picked up the victory in goal for Upper Iowa which improved its record to 3-6-1 on the season. The junior from Cedar Falls made 4 saves in the match.

For the match, the Peacocks out shot the Tigers 21 to 9; including a 9 to 4 advantage in shots on goal.

Upper Iowa will play against St. Mary's in Winona, Minnesota on Friday and then return to Pattison Field on Saturday afternoon for a match against Wisconsin-Superior at 12 p.m.
