Box Score
On Friday night, the Upper Iowa volleyball team lined up against the #1 team in the nation for the second time in the last four days. The Peacocks lost a three-set match to the Golden Bears in Fayette on Tuesday night. Tonight, the site of the match flipped to St. Paul, Minnesota and the home team dominated their guests in each of the three sets played. Concordia-St. Paul won the match quickly by set scores of 25-12, 25-12, and 25-11. After the match, CU improves to 13-0 on the season and now carries a 50-match win streak, an NCAA Record. The Peacocks fall to 9-7 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC.
UIU's stats from the match tell the story of a team that struggled to find their stride all match long. The team only tallied 17 kills for the night compared to 18 attacking errors for a negative hitting percentage (-.011). On the other side of the net, CU posted high hitting percentages including a .750 in set one when the Golden Bears converted 15 of their 20 attacks into kills without any errors.
While it is clear that the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears are the class of the Northern Sun Conference and quite possibly headed for a shot at their third straight National Championship, Peacock fans can rest assured that the 0-2 NSIC start will not deter the UIU volleyball team for the NSIC season ahead.
The Peacocks will return to the court tomorrow afternoon in St. Cloud, Minnesota to face the Huskies of St. Cloud State University. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
