The Upper Iowa baseball program has announced their incoming class for the 2009-10 academic year. Head Coach Mark Danker has released the names of 19 young men that will continue their athletic and academic careers at Upper Iowa this fall.
The Peacocks finished the 2009 season with a 26-26 record overall and an 18-13 mark in the Northern Sun Conference regular season, which was good for fifth place in the league. At the conclusion of the season, the team lost 15 seniors that have been an instrumental part of the team’s first three years in the NSIC. In those three years, Upper Iowa has posted an NSIC record of 60-32 and finished in fifth place twice and claimed the runner up spot in 2008.
Upper Iowa will return three Northern Sun All-Conference performers to the diamond next season. Lucas Wilsing (2nd Team in 2008), Tom Longoni (2nd Team in 2009), and Seth Fox (2nd Team in 2009) will all be back on the field for the Peacocks this season including a host of other letter winners.

This season Mikey batted .456 with 13 homeruns, 45 runs batted in, and 9 stolen bases. He only struck out an impressive 7 times in 103 at bats. Highly decorated, he was named 3A 1st Team All-State and 3A 1st Team Central District, as well as being selected for the prestigious Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series where he will represent the Small Schools-West. After his junior season he was named both All-District and 3A 2nd Team All-State. Mikey graduated from Carlisle with a 3.8 GPA and plans to major in Biology at Upper Iowa. He is the son of Mike and Jamie Henrichs.

This season Josh batted .420 with 4 hr, 15 2b’s, 31 rbi’s, and 23 stolen bases. He also posted a 10-2 record on the mound with a 1.54 era. His season culminated with Boone making an appearance at the state tournament in Des Moines. Highly decorated, Josh was named 3A 2nd Team All-State and 3A 1st Team Central District as an infielder as well as being selected for the prestigious Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series where he will represent the Large Schools-West. Josh graduated from Boone with a 3.3 GPA and is undecided on his major at Upper Iowa. He is the son of Michele Frank.

Rory graduated from Whitewater with a 3.5 GPA and plans to major in Accounting at Upper Iowa. He is the son of Jack and Traci Kolo.

Brandon graduated from St. Ed’s with a 3.37 GPA and plans to major in Accounting at Upper Iowa. He is the son of Tom and Mindy.
