Upper Iowa 7 - Bemidji State 2
The Peacock tennis team picked up a NSIC victory over Bemidji State on Saturday to snap a six-dual losing streak. The 7-2 victory evens Upper Iowa's NSIC record at 2-2 and moves UIU into a tie for sixth place with MSU Moorhead.
The Peacocks win was fueled by a sweep of the three doubles matches. Upper Iowa took four of the six singles matches to claim the conference win. Kasey Huisman and Mallery Cox combined for an 8-6 win at #1. Courtney Romer and Betsy Limburg paired for the 8-4 win at #2, and Kelsey Montgomery and Nicole Henry tagged up to win 8-6 at #3. Huisman (#1), Cox (#3), and Romer (#4) all won their singles matches in straight sets, while Limburg dominated the tiebreaker 10-2 to win her match at #5.
Upper Iowa will now prepare for a big week of Northern Sun action. The Peacocks will face Augustana and Northern State in St. Peter, Minnesota on Friday, Mar. 27, and then match up with Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota State Moorhead in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday, Mar. 28.
