Final Stats
The Upper Iowa women's basketball team took the floor in St. Paul, Minnesota on Saturday evening for their final game of the 2008-09 season. The Peacocks lined up against the Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul. Both teams shot 40% in the first half, but CU took advantage of twelve UIU turnovers to move out to a sixteen point lead at halftime, 39-23. The Peacocks played better in the second half and made a few runs at the Golden Bear lead, but the home team always seemed to have an answer to keep the margin in double figures. In the end, Concordia picked up the conference win 71-50.
Lyndsay Westgaard led the Peacocks in scoring with 15 points, while Lana Otting dropped in 13. On the boards, Upper Iowa was led by Melissa Fitz's 10 rebounds and Paige DeVine's 7 boards. Inga Briede and Otting each handed out 4 assists on the night.
The Peacocks' season comes to an end with an overall record of 5-22 and a Northern Sun Conference record of 1-19. Upper Iowa finished in a tie for 13th place with Bemidji State University.
