Bulldogs Turn Peacocks Over in First Half

Upper Iowa's women's basketball team hosted the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth in Dorman Gym on Saturday evening. The Peacocks entered the game in a tie for thirteenth in the Northern Sun Conference, while the Bulldogs came into the contest in sixth place. The Bulldogs put the Peacocks in a twenty-one point hole at halftime by forcing the Peacocks into seventeen first half turnovers. Minnesota Duluth took the victory, 68-49, although Upper Iowa outscored their guests 25-23 in the second half.

Britney Iredale, who was one of two Peacock seniors recognized following the game, led the Peacocks with her eleventh career double-double. Iredale scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Paige DeVine scored 9, while Melissa Fitz chipped in 8.

Iredale and Kashinda Banks were recognized following the game for their dedication to the Peacock women's basketball team over the last two years.

Upper Iowa (5-20, 1-17 NSIC) has two games remaining in their 2008-09 campaign. The Peacocks will play their final home game in Dorman Gym on Wednesday versus the Warriors of Winona State University. UIU will then play their final game of the season on the road in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Peacocks will play the Golden Bears of Concordia University, St. Paul. Both games are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
